After market part sales grew by 10 percent in 2022

Jan 18, 2023

The automotive aftermarket sector in Turkey grew by 10 percent in 2022. A parallel development is expected in 2023.

Ziya Özalp, Chairman of the Automotive After-Sales Products and Services Association (OSS), said that the industry will close the year 2022 with a growth of over 10 percent compared to 2021. Stating that there has been a significant increase in production numbers, exports, domestic market and employment figures as the automotive after-sales market, Özalp reminded that they determined that the break in the supply chain experienced in 2021 is a problem foreseen for the sector as we enter 2022. Stating that there will be a supply problem not only for chips but also for raw materials used in other vehicle production,

Özalp said: “We predicted that the Russia-Ukraine war would directly affect automotive sales. We, as the automotive aftermarket, predict that this contraction in vehicle sales will make the automotive aftermarket more effective; We have experienced that in the long run, vehicles need more maintenance, repair and spare parts as they age. Global break in the supply chain; our country has created a separate opportunity for spare part manufacturers, and many spare parts production has shifted to our country; It showed that Turkey is an important base in spare parts production, especially in export markets.”

2023 will be parallel

Özalp noted that 2023 will again be a year in which growth-oriented studies will be carried out for the automotive aftermarket market. We expect a parallel growth similar to 2022 in 2023," he said.

Özalp continued: “The production disruptions caused by the ongoing pandemic process in 2022, especially in the Far East; We can say that Turkey has become a serious market for global after-sales, due to price increases in raw materials and maritime transportation. They have recently shifted their contract manufacturing to our Turkish and global manufacturers in the after-sales market, especially many European distributors. Our domestic distributors, on the other hand, continue their investments in human resources and logistics centers, despite the increasing costs. These developments reinforce the expectation that the aftermarket market will continue to grow steadily in 2023, as it always does in the automotive industry.”
